Little Baby Girl...What Will They Name Her? Kenadee Marie Bradley

What a beautiful Little girl. She was born Tues. Dec. 30 at around 1:00 p.m. She weighed 7lbs 6 oz. and is 20 1/2 in. long. They still haven't decided what they will name her, but will let us know as soon as they decide.

I see both Jaxson and Tyson in her. It will be fun to see how she changes in the next couple of weeks!

Small World

I was visiting teaching last week and we were talking about Idaho. I told her I was from Aberdeen and she said, "Oh, I grew up in some of the smaller towns by Blackfoot." I asked where, and she said Grandview, Sterling, Springfield. I laughed and said, "So did I! My maiden name is Bradley." I could see a spark of recognition in her eyes and she asked if I grew up by the church. She lived across the highway! Her maiden name is Orgill. They lived there until her dad died. She said, "I was the same age as one of your brothers." I named all of my brothers and she said, "Val Bradley. I don't know if he would remember me but I remember your family." It is a small world. We laughed! Just thought I would share my small world moment!

Randy is amazing!

Just thought I would post this important event on the family blog!! Congratulations, Randy! I am proud to say I am related to you!!!!! Lisa

Yep, it’s true. Last Friday night we went to the Computer Science alumni dinner where they told everyone that Randy is amazing. We had not been planning on attending, but the Assistant Chair of the department called Randy and asked him to come to receive an award. We had been laughing all week about what award he might be receiving. I am sure you could come up with a few good ones yourselves. :) As it turns out, the department decided to honor one alumnus each year who is making a contribution to the field of computer science and to the world. The first recipient of this “Computing that Serves” award is our very own Randy. We had a good time that night, even if we had to sit at the reserved table up front with the cheeses. We had planned to sit with Tony & Pat Martinez (Tony is Randy’s graduate advisor) and Dan & Marcia Ventura (Dan and Randy shared an office while in graduate school and continues to be a good friend). We were excited to see them because they are fun people and we rarely get the opportunity to catch up with them. Oh, well. Instead we sat with and made some new friends. We also talked with three couples who were in our ward in Orem whom we had not seen for over a decade. I am including the nice tribute they gave that night along with a picture I made him pose for outside of the Hinckley Alumni Building. Just wanted to share.Love,Linette

Randy Wilson was born in Berkeley, California, and grew up in Eugene, Oregon. Randy served a mission in South Korea (Taejon ["tay-juhn"], Korea mission) and later married (“extremely well”) the former Linette Bradley. Linette and Randy now have 5 children, and live in Riverton, Utah. Randy is blue through and through, having obtained all of his degrees at BYU: a B.S. in Computer Science (with minors in Math and Korean) in 1992, an M.S. in Computer Science in 1995, and finally a Ph.D. in Computer Science, with emphasis on Machine Learning, under Dr. Martinez's supervision. From 1997 to 2003, Randy worked for Fonix Corporation doing research and development in speech recognition. In 2003, he joined FamilySearch, the engineering division of the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In that context, he has been focusing on one of PresidentHinckley's priorities (October 2005 General Conference): “One of the most troublesome aspects of our temple activity is that as we get more and more temples scattered across the earth there is duplication of effort in proxy work. People in various nations simultaneously work on the same family lines and come up with the same names. They do not know that those in other areas are doing the same thing. We, therefore, have been engaged for some time in a very difficult undertaking. To avoid such duplication, the solution lies in complex computer technology. Preliminary indications are that it will work, and if this is so, it will be a truly remarkable thing with worldwide implications.”Indeed, Randy has been in charge of developing and improving matching algorithms using neural networks. His work helped find hundreds of millions of matches within a billion-person database, and he is currently helping the organization to adopt a data model that allows the evidence extracted through FamilySearch Indexing to be linked to the conclusions stored in a combined Family Tree, so that family history work can move forward without unbounded duplication of effort. Randy's work has been published in major academic journals and international conferences, and he hasbeen a key player in the BYU Family History Technology workshop. Randy presented papers at 6 ofthe 8 workshops, helped as a reviewer, acted as the demo chair for the workshop and is serving as the general chair of the 2009 workshop. In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Randy is also a talented musician. He plays the guitar, a little piano, a little violin, and has recently started learning to play the cello. Finally, Randy is one of the kindest and most genuine people you will ever meet. He is truly dedicated to serving those around him and the world is a better place because he is here. We are pleased to honor him this evening as the first recipient of the Computing that Serves Award.

I wanted to join the Deverie pic game a while ago but my camera was broken so I couldn't download the pics! but I got a new one now so bwahahahaha!

Thanksgiving Dinner!

Since my email isn't working the best, I thought I would put a post on here so that everyone will know what is going on. (that is if everyone is checking this site)
Anyway, we are have our pictures done at 1:00 on Thursday so that the photographer can get home to her family for her dinner. We would like everyone to wear fall colors for the pictures IE. red, orange, green, brown, black, dark blue. We figured with these colors no one will have to go and purchase new clothes for the picture.
Dinner will be served about 2:00. I figured this year I would give you a choice on what you would like to bring and I will fill in according to what isn't being brought. I have a turkey and I'm saving turkey bucks from Macey's if anyone would like to help and send me their turkey bucks that would be appreciated. (it worked in previous years) Just get them to me by the 23rd so I can have the turkey ready by Thurs. Mom is bringing a ham. So all the other necessities are up for grabs!! Please let me know what you are bringing by the 21st so that I can assign what is left to those who don't respond via email, call, or blog.
We are excited to see everyone and hope that everyone has a safe trip.
Also if anyone has any ideas for games or entertainment, let me know and we will see what we can do. We will try to have a movie set up and if anyone would like to do any crafts that would also be some ideas. Just let me know what you think.
See you all soon, Jan

TEMPLE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME!

Hello my lovely family! I just wanted to let everybody know that I have my temple date set. I know it is short notice (I just wanna get in there! I'm too impatient! haha) I also realize it is somewhat inconvenient for those of you who have to travel or work, but just know that you are MORE than invited to join me if it works for your schedule!

The big event:

Where: Logan Temple
When: Wednesday November 5, 2008 @ 5:30 pm

My session is at 5:30, so if you plan on coming, please be prepared to arrive at about 5:00. I would love to have you all there, although I realize this is impossible! SOO...I will settle for ANYBODY who can find the time to come :) Thank you for your support! See you in the Celestial Kingdom :) (or the closet thing we have here on Earth...)

Baptism Info...

I just heard what time Ashley's baptism is!
It is on November 1st @ 9:00 am.
I don't know if I will have time to get an invitation in the mail so if not, consider this your invitation! If there is anyone who wants to travel down the night before, since it is Halloween, you are welcome to go Trick-or-Treating with us! It would be a fun party!
We will be having a brunch afterwards. I haven't even thought about what we are serving so when I decide, I will let you know! Thanks! We are excited to see everyone!

I HOPE THEY CALL ME ON A MISSION...

SO....I guess the word is out....I TURNED IN MY MISSION PAPERS!! That is right!! :D On Thursday October 9, 2008 I submitted my request to serve the Lord, and no sooner than Wednesday October 22, 2008 do I expect to get my response!! I am SUPER excited for the call, the opportunity to serve and teach, the temple experience, the stress, the investigators to come, the blessings, the ugly but comfy shoes, the spiritual overload, the MTC, the happiness, the constant companions, the badge, the complete lifestyle change, the LETTERS, the new-found friends, just...EVERYTHING! :D Anyways, I just thought it would be appropriate to post my giddiness on our blog! :D

Also, we will be having a "call-opening party" TENTATIVELY on Saturday October 25th...I mean, if I by chance DON'T receive my call by then, the party will OBVIOUSLY have to be postponed (feel free to still stop by, tho ;) haha) I want you all to know that I would LOVE to have each and every one of your there...SO...I will let everybody know for sure if the party is on (if/when) I receive my call...and then I would ask that you RSVP so we know how many people to plan on and wait for before opening the anticipated letter :D I understand that all of you will not be able to make it (with the short notice, price of travel, and chaos of your own lives), so just know that I wont be offended, and I will let you know my destination via other means of communication :D

If you want to cast your bet on where I will reside til the year 2010, feel free to place it as a comment on this post, or bring your idea to the party and put it into the voting box by yourself. :D Thank you for all of your love and support...I wouldn't be the person I am today without the influence of each and every one of you!

I've been tagged!!!

1.Link the person(s) who tagged you

2.Mention the rules on your blog

3.Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours

4. Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them.

Shelby tagged me and told me I could do it on this site since I don't have one so beware those out there who don't have blogs yet!!!

1. When I eat skittles or m&m's I have to save certain colors to be eaten last or have one of each color to eat last and if I have certain colors in my hand of the last ones they are also eaten last. (make sense?)

2. I have to have the dishes staked a certain way in the dishwasher.

3.OK I have ocd in many ways... When I vacuum I have to have the pattern on the floor all going the same way and not have any cross ways on the floor.

4. I have a hard time when someone is singing a song and they get the words wrong....even myself!

5. I love to hear my children laugh especially when it is about the silliest thing!

6. Just wanted you all to know that I really Love my Husband and that he is such a wonderful person!

I tag Brittany, Lisa, KJ, Aimee, Lori, Kent (told you to watch out)

The Three Stooges

Just for the record and an FYI for the rest of the family....Logan, Deverie, and I have decided (minus Logan since he can't really sit down and have a heart-to-heart with us about the situation at hand...YET...only 2 months from today...) that you can now refer to us as 'The Three Stooges.'

We felt a little left out that the younger grandkids got a cool nickname (The Three Muskateers--when there were FOUR in the picture??) and we have been here for 20 & 21 years and have YET to get anything that special....SO...we are doing what we feel we have to, and we have created our own nickname. Thank you for your love and support in this dire time of need (love and attention type of need) haha ;)

:D :D :D Just thought I'd inform the family of the green monster growing inside us...! ;) ;) ;) haha...

Christmas Names

After a few questions of what happened after the discussions last year to change how we did Christmas, we are deleting the Christmas name list that Mom sent out and redoing it. We will include all granchildren 18 years of age and under that are still in high school, jr. high and elementary. Anyone else who wants to be included can contact me BY October 1st and their name will be put in with the draw. Also, since we aren't sure how the parents of the great grandchildren want them to be included, I will also need an email from them if they want the great grandchildren included. I will send out a new list of Christmas names on October 2nd, so be sure to contact me before then if you want in. We hope this will be okay with everyone. We want to continue the tradition for the younger ones that the older ones enjoyed without it being a burden. We love you all and hope all is well. I'm using mom's original list so hopefully the email addresses are current. If you see some from your families that are incorrect, please notify them of the changes we're doing. Hope to see you soon.

Love, Lori
